A few sustainable ranchers have been working on making a smaller carbon footprint and more organic meat, but it falls apart at the slaughterhouse - until now. Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) are being developed which go direct to the ranch. This makes the processes a little less stressful on the animals and reduces the carbon foot print from 10 to 5 (they don’t have to be trucked 11 hrs to a slaughterhouse). It’s not a glamorous topic, but nonetheless important. Washington State is leading the way in this important step to further sustainability. Read more here.
